MLB puts itself on the 60 Day IL

Major League baseball decided today to put the entire league on the 60 day IL(formally known as DL) with Coronavirus. This is retroactive to March 12th when The league cancelled the remainder of Spring Training. This will mean the league can be activated as soon as May 11th to start games. There is no word yet if there will be a rehab assignment when the league returns.

We reached out to Rob Manfield for comment and he said “It was really best for the league to disable all players as a way to prevent any further infection.”

Tony Clark, head of the player’s union, filed a grievance on behalf of the players. “You can’t disable the whole league, players contracts could be impacted. Many player contracts have injury clauses and service time clauses that could be impacted by this move”

No word yet on how other professional leagues may try to rip off their players in this time of crisis.
